Well, 2010 has come and gone in a flash, it seems. I wanted to go back and review our year in pictures, and it has been so much fun to do! This post is lengthy, but I wanted to highlight some of the things that happened in our family this year. Of course, I have tons of pictures, but I picked out my favorite ones commemorating events in our year!
*January*Myla’s first day of Mother’s Morning Out. She has loved “school” ever since! We enjoyed a January snow, which was the first time that Myla really enjoyed playing in it!Making snow angels with her friend, Haley.Myla and Daddy in the snow.Myla went through a phase where she loved acting like she was singing in the choir. Michael was always ready to sing in the choir too!
*February*
In February, our little family of three was starting to prepare to become a family of four. Myla loved playing with all of the baby things as they started coming out of the attic. Here she is strapping her baby doll into the carseat.Myla loved celebrating Valentine’s Day at school with her friends. She especially loved all of the goodies she got!
Michael and Myla went to their first Daddy/Daughter banquet at church at Valentine’s.In February, my friends, Katie and Robyn, threw me a diaper shower to get ready for Selah’s arrival. It was such a huge blessing. We didn’t buy diapers until Selah was about 6 months old, and I STILL haven’t had to buy wipes!!Several of us also surprised Katie with a baby shower before Charlie arrived!By the end of February, Selah’s room was all ready for her!
*March*
Early, early on March 4th, we headed to the hospital to meet our sweet 2nd daughter! She finally arrived at 7:57 p.m., weighing 7 lbs. 10 ozs and measuring 19 3/4 inches long. And, just like that, our family of 3 became a family of 4!Myla was ready to welcome her sister home. She immediately read her a book right after we got home. I love this picture so much! You can hardly see Selah under all the toys Myla had brought her.Our first Sunday back at church when Selah was almost 2 weeks old.On March 16th, we welcomed our new friend Charlie. I think at this picture, Selah was 3 weeks old and Charlie was 1 week old. Also in March, my friend Robyn took some sweet pictures of the girls that I will always treasure. This one was probably my favorite!
*April*
In April, we celebrated Easter. Myla loved looking in her basket on Easter morning.Beautiful girl ready for Easter Sunday church!
Selah was dressed up and ready too for her first Easter! She was exactly one month old.
*May*
In May, we started getting lots of smiles from Selah, and it was fun to watch her personality start to develop.Myla painted spoon rests for Mimi and Sae Sae for Mother’s Day!Selah’s baby dedication was in May, and it was such a special day!At the end of May, we travelled to Arkansas to see Maggie graduate. We were all so proud of her!
*June*
In June, we welcomed my friend, Susan’s, second daughter, Mackensy! We visited Granddaddy and Sae Sae!And Selah even caught a cat nap on Granddaddy! In June, Myla found her way back to the swimming pool for the first time of the summer! She LOVED swimming this year!
*July*
July was a busy month! We celebrated the 4th of July in Tupelo with my family. We celebrated Myla and George’s birthday while we were there since they both have birthdays in July.Myla went to the movies for the first time.Myla turned 3 on July 13th, and we celebrated with a swimming party.
She had so much fun with all of her friends! We rode the train to New Orleans with Mimi, Bodie and Henry for vacation.Selah on her first train ride. Selah and Mommy weren’t cut out for the vacation, so we ended up coming back home, but Mimi, Bodie, Myla and Henry had a wonderful time!!
*August*
Selah started solid foods…green peas were her first food!Selah got tubes in August after battling ear infections since she was 5 weeks old.Myla and I played a hysterical game of Simon Says, which resulted in what might have been my favorite blog post of the year. If you didn’t see it, you can look at it here.Myla started AWANA at our church. She is a cubby this year, and she LOVES it!
*September*
Myla’s first day back at Mother’s Morning Out for the fall semester. We also took a fun, family trip to the Memphis Zoo in September…on the opening day of college football season, no less!! It was a beautiful, cool day!Selah started sitting up by herself! My friend, Richard, got married in September. Myla loved the wedding, and she thought the bride was a real-life princess!Love, love, love this picture of Myla and Grace at their friend, Mary Bea’s, princess birthday party.
*October*
Myla started practicing for her future modeling career – one of my favorite pics of the year!! HA!Selah got to swing at the park for the first time.We made our annual visit to the pumpkin patch! We had our first “campout'” in the den!Selah sported this a.d.o.r.a.b.l.e. hat with a flower on it that Sae Sae gave her. Then, she dressed up as a flower for her first Halloween! And Myla elected to raid her dress up trunk and be a fairy for Halloween.
*November*
Selah graduated from the carrier to actually getting to sit in the buggy! This was more fun for Myla, I think, than it was for Selah! We packed our shoeboxes for the Operation Christmas Child. In November, Michael was ordained as a deacon in our church, which was such an honor. It was a very special day for us. I am SO thankful for my husband and his spiritual leadership in our family.
We celebrated Thanksgiving with my family.
And we also celebrated with Michael’s family.Me, Katie, Susan and Maggie stayed out ALL NIGHT on Black Friday shopping!
*December*
We decorated our house for Christmas and took LOTS of pictures in front of the tree!We celebrated Daddy’s 33rd birthday!Selah started pulling up to standing! We baked and decorated cookies. We celebrated with our families!
And had LOTS of fun with our cousins!
2010 was a wonderful year that I would change nothing about! To me, it is always a little bitter sweet to end a year and begin another, but I am looking very forward to 2011. We have a big announcement from our family that we will be sharing in the new couple of days! 2011 will be a fun and exciting year, for sure!
