Update...

Well, I have good news to report on Selah, praise the Lord! We went to see Dr. Molly this morning, and she said she reviewed the chest x-ray, and it was perfectly clear...no pneumonia. She also was able to see her tubes perfectly fine. She said she wasn't quite sure what the people in the ER were looking at, but Selah checked out great. I have "lived and learned" not to take a baby to the ER! Just kidding...I realize that they have to treat the worst case scenario, but sheesh, I was worried sick! Molly said that the breathing problems and pain Selah was having were probably due to spasms as a result of her reflux. She said that this could easily cause labored breathing and bad crying spells since it is very painful. She upped her dosage of Zantac, which she hopes will take care of the problem. She also did a blook work-up, and all of it looked perfectly normal too. She is concerned about Selah's sinuses since she keeps a runny nose and fever, but she said we will have to wait until she is a little older and do a consult with the ENT about it. I am SO relieved and thankful that everything is okay because yesterday was a very scary day for this mommy. Selah has seemed better today and more like herself, so I hope she just keeps improving everyday. Thanks for the prayers! Oh, and Myla is completely recovered as well and is back up to her old tricks of being a fiesty 3 year old...NEVER a dull moment!

What a Weekend...

Wow...you know how some weekends just don't go how you thought they would? Well, we have had one of those!! It all started out yesterday morning when Myla woke up at 4 am throwing up. She threw up about every 15 to 20 minutes for several hours. She finally started feeling better around 2:30 yesterday, thank goodness. It was AWFUL to watch her be so sick. She barely even got off the couch, which is NOTHING like her at all. We went to bed last night praying that nobody else got what she had. We were so thankful that Myla woke up this morning feeling great, so we thought we were in the clear.
Well, at 7:30, Selah woke up. She seemed fine at first, but then she started breathing very funny. She would gasp and grunt everytime she had to breathe, and she was continually crying. She had a similar spell like this on Friday night, but she seemed fine yesterday. Michael and I finally made the decision to take her to the ER because she was obivously not sounding normal. To make a long story short (5 hours in the ER), we were told that her ears were very swollen and the tubes that were put in on Wednesday were not visible. We were also told that the had right lower lobe pneumonia. She was given a Rosefan shot and another round of oral antibiotics. I talked with Dr. Molly, our pediatrician, and we are taking Selah to her in the morning for a full blood work-up. Selah has been running fever for pretty much a month now, and we've got to figure out what is causing it. Molly also want to look at her ears because she said the tubes should be easily visible. Anyway, I am sure nothing is horribly wrong, but as a mommy, my mind has sure wandered to places it shouldn't, and I am worried. I just want my sweet baby to feel better and be back to normal. I will keep everyone updated, and we would appreciate any and all prayers!

My Little Cubby...

Last night was Myla's first night in the Cubbies program at our church. Cubbies is the 3 & 4 year old program of AWANA. She was SO excited about going to Cubbies and wearing her vest. In Cubbies, she will learn songs, do crafts, but, most importantly, memorize scripture. How precious it will be to hear her recite scripture each week and begin hiding God's Word in her heart.
Finally checked in with her vest on and her bag of goodies! Can you tell she was excited!
Grace, Myla, Caroline and Jack
Myla is so blessed with great, little friends. They all love each other so much and get to spend a lot of time together. I hope they remain close as they grow.

Tubes...

Poor Selah has been plagued with ear infections since she was 5 weeks old. She recently had a double ear infection that never cleared up with 2 rounds of anitibiotics and a Rosefan (sp?) shot, so we went to see Dr. Dye, the ENT, yesterday and he scheduled her for tubes this morning. We had to be at the surgery center at 6:15, which is early for Miss Selah considering she doesn't get up until about 7:30. She did great, though, and was all smiles until recovery. While she was in recovery I could hear her screaming from the waiting room. Bless her heart! They promised me she wasn't in pain and that it was just the anesthesia. After screaming bloody murder for about 30 minutes, she finally fell asleep when we got home and slept for 3 1/2 hours. She was okay when she woke up, soI think she will be back to new tomorrow. Dr. Dye assured me that we did the right thing by getting the tubes because she had very thick, mucousy (sorry, gross) fluid on both ears. He said he wouldn't be surprised at all if we had to eventually get a second set since she has had so much trouble already. I just told him that we'll cross that bridge when we get there!
In her little hospital gown waiting for Dr. Dye to come get her...completely oblivious as to what is about to happen, bless her heart!
Little bands on her ankles...sweet little feet!
Ready to go to surgery with Dr. Dye. He is so sweet with little babies! He takes them back himself.

Comparison...

I finally got the pictures off of my old computer of Myla when she was little. The girls definitely look alike, but they are not as identical as I thought. It will be interesting to see how similar they look the older they get.

"School"....

I've been telling Myla that we would get her some "school" things and start having school at home. Well, this week we went to The Dollar Tree and spent $16. I think it was the best $16 I have ever spent. We recently changed our dining room into an office/school/playroom. I think since I have set up her school stuff, she has hardly left the room...pretty much only to eat and sleep! She loves playing "school stuff" and asks to do it continually during the day. She is going to be one of those kids (like me) who is going to LOVE school!
She was listening to her music and dancing around...she was on cloud 9 the morning we set everything up!
The school area!
Big girl so excited!
I just love her so much!!

Simon Says...

Today while I fed Selah, Myla and I played Simon Says...one of her favorite games! Thought I would share her sweet expressions!
Simon says look HAPPY!!
Simon says LAUGH OUT LOUD... Simon says look MAD...
Simon says looks SURPRISED...
Simon says WINK...
Simon says look SHY...
Simon says SMILE!
Simon says look SAD...
Simon says MAKE A SILLY FACE!!

Sweet Peas...

Selah finally got the hang of eating cereal last week, so I decided this week to let her try food. I gave her sweet peas today at lunch, and she chowed down! After she started eating the peas, she had nothing to do with eating her cereal, so we'll have to see what to do about that. Obviously, I need to give her the cereal first!
First bite...not quite sure what to think about it...
A few seconds later...I think she is starting to like it!
"Mom, why have been holding back on these delicious, mushed up sweet peas!" HA!
I just thought this face was funny!
This is her new thing...sticking her tongue out! My mom was here this weekend, and she started sticking her tongue out at Selah. Well, Selah started to mimic her, and she still hasn't stopped!
After she was all done and cleaned up, she gave me her her "teased" smile!

Baby, Meet Baby Doll....

The other night in the bathtub, I noticed that Selah could not take her eyes off of the baby doll that was floating next to her.
She couldn't stop staring at it...
so I finally decided to hand it to her.
She was very excited...
and smothered her with kisses the rest of bath time!!

5 Months...

I seriously had to look twice when I typed 5 months...I can't believe my sweet baby is 5 months old already. I took these pictures on her 5 month birthday (Wed.), but I'm just getting around to posting them.
Dear My Sweetest Selah,
I am so in love with you, sweet girl! You are such a joy to our family, and we ALL love you so much. You are the happiest baby, and you smile all the time. You started giggling out loud this month, and it is just music to my ears. Daddy can get you to laugh the hardest when he tickles you under your chin with his whiskers.
You are such a tease! I am so glad I got the picture above because it is one of your classic looks. Sometimes when you start to smile, you will turn your head and cut your eyes at me like you are just so teased. You are so content most all of the time, and you still don't mind being on the go. I think the thing that helps that the most is that I am more laid back with your schedule than I was with your sister! You love to nap, but if one gets cut short, you are still pretty happy! Your fussiest time of day is between 6 and 7 pm. You LOVE a bath, but I've got to be speedy getting you dried off and dressed in your pajamas because you are ready for that bottle and bed!
You are still doing great sleeping at night...Praise the Lord!! You go to bed at 7:30 p.m., same time as your sister, and you wake up at 7:30 a.m. You sometimes cry out in the early morning, but when I give you your pacifier you usually go on back to sleep. I am so thankful you are a good sleeper!!
You are still mesmorized by your big sister. You love to watch her play and act silly. She can get you to smile very quickly, and when she does she looks at me and says, "Mommy, Selah is smiling at me!" She is so proud of herself when she gets you to smile.
You have found your feet and you love to play with them when you are lying on your back. You can almost get your toes in your mouth, but I think your big belly gets in the way!! You are a little CHUNK, which is hysterical to me because your sister was always as skinny as a bean pole! I love all your fat rolls!!! You are still very vocal, and I think you really like to hear yourself make noises because you gradually get louder and louder when you are on a roll!
Just over the past few days, you have gotten the hang of eating cereal, and you seem to really like it. We will start baby food later this month, so that should be an adventure. You are almost rolling over. You can get completely on your side, but your arm usually gets in your way and you can't get all the way over. You are so close...I think it will be a matter of days before you get it!
You also still love sucking and chewing on your fingers! I keep wondering if you are getting a tooth, but I don't see any evidence of one coming in. We'll see soon, I guess!
You love playing with little toys that you can hold on to. These rings are your favorite because you can get a good grip on them and get them to your mouth easily. Myla loves to bring you toys to play with!
I love you so much, Selah! You are making motherhood of a baby easy, and I am so blessed to be your mommy! I pray that you will continue to grow and be healthy, and that God would bless your life beyond what we could ask or imagine. I sing "You are My Sunshine" to you all the time, and while I am singing it to you, you will just stare at my and smile. It is the sweetest thing! Your little personality is so sweet!
I can't wait to see what month 6 brings!!
