Ready for the NFL?

I was trying to entertain Myla tonight before bath time so I gave her one of Michael's "skull caps" that he runs in that one of his friends that worked with the Carolina Panthers brought him. She kept wanting me to put it on just so she could take it off. I don't know...what do you think? I think she would definitely be the cutest player in the League!

Yummy, Yummy, Yummy for my Tummy, Tummy, Tummy...

Another thing that I picked up on my visit from Tamah was a recipe for homemade granola. It is delicious, and I think would made a great holiday happy for teachers, neighbors, etc. It makes a lot. I had 4 big cookie sheets full. Here is the recipe. Let me know if you try it!

Homemade Granola:

10 cups old fashioned oats

2 cups grapenuts

2 cups wheat bran

2 cups wheat germ

2 cups coconut

2 cups chopped pecans

1 cup ground flax seed

1 tbls. cinnamon

1 tbls. vanilla

2 cups honey

1 1/2 cups oil

Mix dry ingredients well. In separate bowl mix honey, oil and vanilla. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and stir until your arm feels like it is going to fall off! Seriously though, make sure that it is mixed really well. Put on cookie sheets and bake on 325 degrees for 5-10 minutes or until edges begin to brown. It will still feel soft but will harden as it cools. Let it cool COMPLETELY before you take it off cookie sheet. I actually set mine outside to cool so it would cool faster. When cooled break up and store.

It is so good in yogurt or you can eat it like cereal. I personally like it just plain, and I will say that it has been addictive! Hey, at least it is healthy. Hope you will try it!

Cute Clothes and a Visit With Sweet Friends...

Myla and I spontaneously took a trip to Jackson on Tuesday and got back last night. We went and stayed our friends, Tamah and Abby White, while Danny was out of town. We had a lot of fun, made some clothes, monogrammed some clothes, ate good food, created a blog, visited with other friends, etc. etc. We jammed a lot into two days. Again, like Thanksgiving, I did not do a great job of documenting the trip, but here are the three that I got!

Myla loved the slide at Chick-Fil-A. She climbed up the stairs and went through the tubes like she knew just what she was doing!
Myla and Abby walking into Hobby Lobby. They held hands walking down the sidewalk...it was so sweet. I am sure that Tamah would want me to let you know that Abby picked out her outfit. She was pretty adament about wearing her Strawberry Shortcake cheerleading uniform. Not that there is anything wrong the the cheerleading outfit, but I don't think it was Tamah's pick considering Abby has a closet full of A.D.O.R.A.B.L.E. clothes! Oh well, so is the life of a three year old!!!

Tamah is a very talented seamstress so I took advangtage of her gift while I visited. She made Myla two cute outfits and monogrammed several others for me. Already had this outfit...paid a whole $3.00 for it at a consignment sale. I added the ribbons at the shoulder and with the monogram, it looks great! L.O.V.E. this one! She's already worn it. I put it on her fresh out of the monogramming machine! Already had this outfit too...again, consignment (gotta love it!). It actually was brand new, but I wanted her name on it!

You can't see this one real well, but her initials are in hot pink. The dress is navy and white. It turned out really cute. Obviously it is for next summer!!

Christmas Tree...love it! She has already worn this one too. I don't like to waste anytime wearing new clothes!!

Dryer Revisited...

Awhile back, Myla figured out how to climb into the dryer. She hasn't done it in awhile, but the other morning I was doing laundry and she climbed right in. She got in a lot easier considering she has grown taller since she last tried. I got these pictures that I thought turned out cute. Yes, she is still in her pajamas...and yes, she does have a bow in with her pajamas but only because her hair is long and hangs into her eyes, and it drives me crazy! I am just glad that she has gotten to where she will leave a bow in!

Playing Catch Up.....

WOW!! I am so far behind on blogging! Michael told me yesterday that I needed to update the blog because it had been a whole week!! So, here goes...lots to catch up on.

Thanksgiving

Let me begin by saying, I did terrible, let me repeat, t.e.r.r.i.b.l.e., job of taking pictures over Thanksgiving. Yes, me, the person who always has the camera ready to snap any shot I can get. Oh well, I guess life has gotten busier chasing a 16 month old that I usually say, "Oh, where's my camera?" And by that time, the moment has passes without being documented! Here are the few that I did get.

Sis Sis let Myla put on her "lipstick" i.e. chapstick. Myla became quite obsessed with it and basically proceeded to eat the chapstick. She smelled like she has eaten a peppermint, so at least she had good breath!
"Man, this chapstick tastes good. You should try some, Mimi."
This was on Thanksgiving Day. Sis Sis' neighbors have young children, so they have all kinds of outdoor play things. We put Myla on the trampoline, and wouldn't you know, the fearless little monkey loved it! She ran and fell and jumped and laughed. She had so much fun and did a good job of getting the knees of her tights black!

"Hey, Mama, you know I usally get in trouble for jumping on things like this. When I do this on the bed, you make me stop, but I won't say anything if you don't!"

"Hey Bodie, you and Mimi need to come try out this trampoline thing...it is loads of fun!"

See that's it...all the pictures. Believe it or not we saw tons of family that would have made for great photo ops, but too late now. We even went to the Egg Bowl, sans Myla, and I don't even have a picture to document the awesome, massacre of a game that happened. Go Rebels! I will try to be a better photographer at Christmas!

It's Beginning to Look Alot Like Christmas

I have been so ready to put Myla in some of her winter/Christmas clothes that I have gotten her! I finally put her in them this past weekend. She will hopefully look festive in all her new duds! Myla playing in the flower beds. This outfit didn't last long once she fell in the wet mud, but it was cute while it lasted!

Sunday before church I attempted to get some pictures in front of the Christmas tree. You know how easy that is!!! Here are the few that I got.

"Hey, Mama, did you say these ornaments are expensive and that I don't need to break them?"

Look of wonder! I don't know what she was looking at, but I love her expression.

Art With Santa

Tonight one of the local churches hosted "Art with Santa". It was a great activity for toddlers. They made crafts and got to see Santa.

As you can see, Myla obviously has a grand fondness for the old fellow! Maybe we will do better with Santa next year, but as for this year, she was having nothing to do with him. I didn't push it...I don't want to traumatize her for life!

This was before we left home...yet another attempt to get a good picture in front of the tree. Not exactly what I was hoping for, but I will take it!

Candy canes were a big hit tonight! I was a little nervous about giving it to her, but she actually did really well with it. She bit if off a little at a time and made a big mess in the meantime!

"I'm happy as long as you don't try to put me by the bearded man in the red suit again!"

Meurrier Beauty Salon

I am still in shock that Myla will let me do this, but she loves to get her hair blow-dried. My mom dried her hair when she stayed with her last week because their house is so cold she didn't want her to go to bed with wet hair. She said that she just sat in her lap and let her do it, so we have been doing it every night since. She loves it! It actually makes her hair look so much better and healthier.

"Mama, make sure you get it all the way dry!"

I still can't believe my eyes...that she is sitting still and letting me do this!

Our Poor Dogs...

I looked over this afternoon at the couch, and I saw these two poor, pitiful dogs comfortably sleeping a the warm house!! Bless their hearts. Do you think they are spoiled?

Prayers Before Bed...

Each night before we put Myla to bed, we say our prayers. Now, when you tell Myla to say her prayers, she will put her little hands together. It is the sweetest thing! She also does it when she gets in her highchair so we can say the blessing. If I forget, she will remind me by putting her hands together. I hope she always remembers to pray to her Heavenly Father. I guess it is never too early to learn.
