Dyeing Easter Eggs…

I had been promising Myla that we would dye eggs for Easter…and we all know when you promise a 3 year old something, they DO NOT FORGET!  Well, Thursday was the day we were set to dye eggs. She woke up ready to get the show on the road, but I told her that we would have to wait until Selah was down for a morning nap.  I would love to say she waited patiently all morning, but she didn’t!  She asked about every 3 minutes when Selah was going to go to sleep so we could dye the eggs!!  I love the excitement of a little child!

All set and ready to go!

Eggs are in the dye…waiting for them to be done!

Of course, her favorite one was the pink one!  (I was SO glad to pour that dye out of the cups….I just KNEW we were going to spill one!)

We got the “glitter” egg dye so here Myla is adding the glitter to one of the eggs.  She LOVED doing it!!  I wish y’all could hear her talk when she does something like this.  It is like I am having a conversation with another 31-year-old!  She is SO grown up!

Concentration….

Myla with the finished product!  I will say they looked okay but not quite as good as they did on the box!  Isn’t that always the case??

As I was typing about Myla being grown up, I thought of a funny story that I wanted to share.  Myla LOVES school, and everyday that we come home from Mother’s Morning Out, she goes straight to her playroom and basically reenacts the morning at school.  My mom said that I used to do the exact same thing.  Anyway, I told one of her teachers (who she will have again) the other day that Myla was going to go back to MMO at First Baptist, and she said, “Oh, good!  We will need a fourth teacher!”  Heaven help me!

Outside..

The theme of our life lately has been spending time OUTSIDE!  Selah LOVES being outside, and considering two weeks ago when she was sick with tonsilitis and cranky, I was willing to do whatever it took to make her happy.  Thankfully we had beautiful weather, so we spent a lot of time outside.  There are not a ton of pictures of Myla because it was usually me and Selah by ourselves while Myla napped…Selah wasn’t into napping that week either.  It was a TOUGH week, and I was about ready to throw in the towel, but we survived…such is motherhood!  She is feeling much better now, and she had a perfect week this week, and I was very thankful.  It rained a lot this week, so we couldn’t go outside. Bless her little heart, she would go stand at the backdoor and cry to go out.  There are lots of pictures, so I am not going to put a caption with each one!

I’m certainly not complaining about them being outside because when they are inside, my house looks like this!  Craziness!!

Adoption Update…

I’ve had lots of people asking me lately about the adoption and where we are, so I figured it was time to give an update!  The last month to 6 weeks has been quite trying on the adoption front.  Right before our yard sale the first weekend in March, an announcement was made that Ethiopia was going to cut international adoptions by 90%.  There were many reasons for this, but I am not educated enough about them to go into detail.  When we heard this news, we felt that the breath had been knocked out of us.  We felt so certain that Ethiopia is where God called us to go, but then with this roadblock, we weren’t sure what to do.  We sat tight for a few weeks just to let the dust settle before we made any decisions.  We began praying and seeking God’s will about what to do, and the Lord began speaking clearly to us that Ethiopia is where our child was…no doubt, and we decided to proceed with Ethiopia.  Our next step was choosing an agency.  We had chosen an agency previously, but we decided to change after we found out about a policy they had that if you get pregnant at any point in the process, that you are immediately terminated and you lose any money that you have paid up until that point.  Michael and I both felt very uneasy about this.  We certainly are not planning on getting pregnant, but it could happen.  So, we began the search for a new agency, and the Lord opened a door for us there.  To make a long story short, I got re-connected with a friend of mine that used to live in Oxford that now lives in North Carolina.  She and her husband are adopting a little boy from Ethiopia, and they are using the agency Children’s Hope International.  After looking into them, we applied and found out today that we were accepted into their Ethiopia program.  So…we are SO excited to be back on track and start moving forward again.  We are almost done with our home study, then we will begin working on our dossier so we will be “paper ready” and be able to get on the waiting list!

We are learning each day that adoption is a long process with lots of decisions, but the Lord has been faithful every step of the way.  We know that this is what we are supposed to do, and we know that our 3rd baby is in Ethiopia and we can’t wait until we can bring him or her HOME…no matter how long it takes, we are in it for the long haul!  We continue to covet your prayers for our family.  We simply want to be found faithful.

Our Weekend…

The most glorious thing happened this weekend…  Mimi and Bodie kept BOTH girls on Friday night!  It was my first night away from Selah, and she did great!!  My mom was a little nervous about keeping her overnight, but she did fine.  It was so wonderful for Michael and I to have a night together!  We went to eat and went to the movies.  I didn’t know what to do with my self at supper!  I was eating so fast because I normally have to do that while tending to two children at a restaurant!  We went to see “Soul Surfer”, and I would highly recommend it.  Then, I stayed in the bed until after 9:30 on Saturday morning!  It was wonderful!!!  I love being a mom, don’t get me wrong, but every now in then, it is great to not have to take care of somebody else for a few hours!!

While Selah was with my mom, she got her first hair cut.  She was sporting a mullet big time, and it was time for it to go!  My mom said she did great!  I will have to get the pictures off of her camera to document it!

Nothing much else happened this weekend, honestly!  I did get Selah a new booster seat to eat in so we could get rid of the big, clunky high chair.  She looks like such a big girl eating at the table!  She ate off of a plate for the first time.  I just knew she was going to pull it off of the table, but I think she respects her food too much to do that!  She ate right off of the plate like she had been doing it for forever!

Lately…

I don’t know about you other bloggers, but in my mind, I feel like I blog all the time, but then when I really look at it, I realize that it sometimes is a week or more in between my posts!  Oh well, I am trying to keep up!

Last Thursday, we had another fun day in Tupelo!  My mom has been teaching school for over forty years, and I cannot recall ONE time that she took a day off of work except for maybe a doctor’s appointment.  She is a DEDICATED teacher, and loves what she does, but it was high time that she took a day off of work for fun.  Well, last Thursday, she did.  We were going to go to Tupelo and shop at a huge consignment sale for the girls’ spring and summer clothes.  Well, my mom and I ended up being able to shop early on Wednesday night at the sale, but we still went back on Thursday and took the girls shopping.  We had so much fun, and I was SO glad that Mom had taken the day off.  I think she loved it too!!  First we went to The Corner Shoe Store and got the girls some Sunday shoes and sandals.  I wish I had the pictures off of Mom’s camera because she got the cutest one of Mr. Tommy measuring Selah’s foot.  She did so good!  After that we went and ate lunch with Peyton at Pepper’s….it was yummy!  I had never eaten there before, so it was a treat.  They even have a low calorie selection!  :)

DSCN1027

If there is one thing I can say about Selah, it is that the child loves to EAT!!  Seriously, she enjoys food so much.  I am just so thankful to have at least one child that is not a picky eater, so I am not complaining!  Anyway, when we were at Pepper’s, Selah thoroughly enjoyed her hotdog lunch!  You can tell from the picture above that she had her hands full!!

DSCN1028

At least while she is eating, she is willing to share.  Pey Pey didn’t care for any, though!

DSCN1029

You cannot tell exactly what she is doing in the picture above, so let me explain…  She had cheetos in both hands and her hotdog was on the table, so her solution was just to try and eat it off of the table.  We got the biggest kick out of it!  She eventually had to pick it up and eat it.  Then, she somehow ate the whole inside of the hotdog and left the skin.  Seriously, have you ever seen that done before?

DSCN1030

“Hey, y’all leave me alone and let me eat in peace!!!”

Peyton had to get some love from Myla before he headed back to work!

DSCN1041

After lunch, we went to the mall so the girls could ride the carousel and play on the playground again.  Selah enjoyed walking through the mall!  She thought she was big stuff!

DSCN1043

I love this picture of mom and the girls on the carousel.  Mom finally convinced Myla to ride a horse instead of sitting on a bench, and, of course, she loved it!!

DSCN1049

Big girl loving riding the horse!!

DSCN1045

I’m not sure who was having more fun…Mimi or Myla!

DSCN1057

After riding the carousel, we headed over to the playground.  I love this picture of Selah because of the look of determination in her eyes.  She has NO FEAR!  This little boy was standing in front of the entrance to the tunnel, and she walked right up to him, pushed him aside and began to crawl through.  It looks like they are racing in this picture to me!

DSCN1060

She can be a little booger, but she is so cute while doing it!

DSCN1069

Myla had to ride the carousel two MORE times before we left!

Thanks, Mimi, for a FUN trip to Tupelo!!!

On a totally different note, I wanted to share these pictures that I took the other day of the girls playing in pictures.  They had them EVERYWHERE, but they were having so much fun!  Myla loves to look through old pictures.  She has started asking me for tape every now and then, and she will tape up random pictures on the wall in the play room.  The other day I went in there and she had a picture of her and Dr. Dye on the day that she got tubes in her ears.  I cracked up when I saw it!

DSCN1023

She LOVES this picture of her and Grace at their second Christmas.

DSCN1025

Selah wasn’t “looking” at the pictures, she was just spreading them everywhere, but she thought it was great fun!

______________________________________________________

Speaking of Selah eating, we got the pictures of Selah before we went to church on Sunday night.  Michael said, “This is a perfect picture of Selah!”  She loves to play in the fridge these days.  She will pull food out and bring it to me and look at me like, “Are you going to give me some, or not?”  She is a funny little thing!

DSCN1075

“I think this makes a great place to eat?”

DSCN1076

“I wonder why they are all laughing at me?”

Seeing these pictures of Selah in the fridge reminded me another certain little someone that used to love to play in the fridge too….

MYLA 2 199

Here is Myla at about 13 or 14 months in the fridge too!!!

MYLA 2 194

I couldn’t believe, looking at the pictures, how much more hair Myla had at this point compared to Selah!  Maybe Selah’s will grow in some soon!!
