Ten on Tuesday…

1.  The hot weather is getting to me.  I do not like being hot, AT ALL! It puts me in a bad mood.  Ha!  I’m not ready for summer in that regard.

2.  Last week Selah killed a roli poli without batting an eye.  She just picked him up and squished him…poor thing.

DSCN5855

She thought he was interesting to look at first!

Later that same evening, Michael found a frog in his tennis shoe outside.  We watched the frog for awhile, and finally Selah just reached down and picked him up.  Myla screamed like somebody was stabbing her, because never in a million years would she do anything like that.  EVER.

DSCN5873

She examined the frog for a good 20 minutes!!

3.  Last week the girls and I went to Newk’s for lunch.  The girl sitting next to us was by herself and she read a book while she ate.  I wanted to tell her to enjoy that because if she ever planned on having children, that probably wouldn’t happen too often.  ha!!!  Times sure change after having little ones!

4.  My diet is going really well.  I’m definitely not over the part where I’m still hungry most all of the time, but I’m making progress!

5.  Yesterday we were without water at our house (as well as everyone around us) until around 6:30 pm.  A line had burst which caused our water to be shut off while they repaired it.  It certainly made me realize how much I take for granted using the potty, getting water out of the faucet anytime I need it, etc.  I’m so thankful they got it fixed quickly!

6.  I made some cute treats for Myla and Selah’s classmates, but I forgot to take pictures of them!!  I’m so upset about it.  Myla helped me last Friday put them all together!  I don’t have pictures, but I can still explain them…hopefully it will help someone if you are looking for ideas.  For Myla’s friends I got little favor boxes at the Dollar Tree (pack of 12), filled them with Laffy Taffys and wrote on the box, “I hope your summer is filled with lots of “Laffs”!!  For Selah’s class I got plastic cups at Dollar General (pack of 6 for $1) and filled them with sweetarts, a pack of Kool-Aid and a silly straw.  Then I attached a tag to the straw that said, “I hope your summer is “kool” and “sweet”!  Then, for the teachers, I got clear jars at the Dollar Tree, stuffed them with Smarties and taped 2 Sharpie markers to the top.  I put a cute bow around the jar with a tag that said, “Thank you for helping make us “smarties” and “sharpies” this year!”  Have I mentioned I love Pinterest.  I did come up with the Laffy Taffy thing by myself.  Ha!

7.  Myla has her little graduation ceremony from MMO tomorrow, and she cannot wait for it!  She told me it is going to be “SO cute!”  She, of course, knows everyone’s lines!  She reminds me so much of me when I was little…thankfully, I know my mom made it through raising me, and I think I turned out ok.

8. We are having everyone at our house for Mother’s Day lunch this Sunday.  I cannot wait to give our moms their gifts.  I actually thought ahead and got something I like for them rather than running around at the last minute trying to come up with something!  I think they are going to LOVE them!  Michael said he is also really excited about what he got me for Mother’s Day this year, so I can’t wait to see what it is!!

9.  One of the girls’ favorite things to do is play in Selah’s bed.  Myla loves to go get Selah up in the mornings or after her naps, then she crawls in her bed and they play in there for a long time!  I love to hear them laughing together.  It usually lasts for a good while, then the screams start to come because I think the area gets a little small.  Ha!

DSCN5916

10.  I’m going to get my teeth cleaned this morning, so I’ve got to get ready and floss my teach and brush them extra good!  Ha!  I’m interested to see how the girls do while I’m there.  Let’s just say, I hope my hygienist works fast!!!

Happy Tuesday, everyone!!!

A Busy Week and A Big Relief…

It seems like we have had a busy week!  We’ve had something everyday, but really that’s how the girls and I like it!  We like to be busy…summer is going to get LONG for us, I’m sure!

DSCN5837

Thursday morning we went to Mom’s school for the elementary school play.  It was all about history, and it was really cute!  Sis Sis drove over to come too!

DSCN5840

A self portrait of me and Selah!

DSCN5843

The girls with Mimi.  Selah normally doesn’t get the paci out of her bed, but I thought I better bring it to the play just in case she got loud.  She is somehow balancing it on her shoulder in the picture!

DSCN5846

They had a reception after the play, and Selah enjoyed this very LARGE muffin!!

DSCN5848

My little social butterflies!

DSCN5882

I mentioned on Tuesday that Myla had her doctor’s appointment on Friday for her check up and shots for Kindergarten.  Let me just say, I could not have been more proud of her.  She was so brave!  The first thing they did was prick her finger.  She didn’t even flinch…she just watched them do it.  I was thinking to myself, “Who are you, and what have you done with my daughter?”  I couldn’t believe it!  Daddy was with us, and I think that made a big difference!  When it came time for the shots, she laid down without complaining.  Michael had to hold her legs, and I held her arms and kissed her on the face until it was over.  She cried some, but once they were done, she stopped.  I was flabbergasted, but SOOO thankful she had done so well!  I was so relieved when it was over and so was she!!!

DSCN5884

She wanted to go to school after her appointment, so I dropped her off and she was as happy as she could be!  When I picked her up, we headed to Chick-Fil-A for lunch.

DSCN5887

Selah always asks for Sprite, but then always wants my diet coke!

DSCN5890

After Chick-Fil-A,  we went to Sno Biz.  I told her we could go to Holli’s or Sno Biz, and she chose Sno Biz!  She loved riding “Dino” complete with the theme song to the Flintstone!

DSCN5893

She also loved getting up on the OLD horse!

DSCN5894

Selah enjoyed her Sno Biz as well!

DSCN5898

After Daddy got off work we went to supper at Newk’s.  Can you tell we were proud of her??

DSCN5899

Mommy and her big girl!

DSCN5900

Then, after Newk’s, we finished off the day with a “mini” oreo sonic blast!  She had a GOOD day!

DSCN5903

Sister enjoyed her sonic blast too!

DSCN5906

Then, finally, this afternoon Myla and I went with my mom to her school’s end of the year party.  They had a water slide and a HUGE bounce house obstacle course!  Myla had a blast!

DSCN5907

Waiting in line for another turn!

DSCN5909

My mom was surprised to find out that she had been voted Teacher of the Year for her school!  I knew beforehand, but she had no idea.  She was excited!  My mom is one of those people who truly found her call in life. She LOVES to teach and she is GOOD at it!!  She has touched so many lives, so I was really excited for her to be recognized in such a special way!

Whew…I’m tired from reliving all this!!  I think I’m going to bed!  I hope all of you had  a GREAT Saturday!

Getting Near the End…

We only have 2 more days of Mother’s Morning Out left for this year!  I cannot believe it!  I’m going to miss it so much.

DSCN5759

In an effort to do better with picture taking, I took some pictures of the girls this morning before we left.  I LOVE matching them!  I know I have a small window of time to do this before Myla will think it is too “babyish”.  So, I’m taking advantage!!

DSCN5763

No words…

DSCN5764

Selah with her teachers, Mrs. Glenda (“Miss Genda”) & Mrs. Elizabeth (“Miss Bisbef”).  Can you tell she loves them?  She better because she will have them both again next year!  I’m so excited about it!

DSCN5786

Myla with her teachers…Mrs. Brenda & Mrs. Kate

Elizabeth took my camera on the playground to get some pictures of her class, and I love this picture she snapped of Selah!!

Ten on Tuesday…

**Sorry this is posted on Wed, but my computer wouldn’t cooperate last night!!**

I was afraid this may happen…a whole week would go by with no blogging and all of a sudden, it’s Tuesday.  So, thankfully, I can catch up.  Although, I don’t feel like there is much to catch up on.  Ha!

1.  Last Thursday the girls and I made trip to Tupelo to see the Buckleys!! I had been planning on going to Sherman to Premier Fabrics to get fabric for pillows, so only being a few miles from Tupelo, we had to go visit!  The kids had a great time, as usual!  I got ONE picture…I’m going a TERRIBLE job of picture taking lately…what’s wrong with me???

DSCN5708

Sweet Selah was happy to sit on the screened in porch to eat her lunch while all the other kids had a picnic outside.  She beats to her own drum!  Cracks me up!

2.  This weekend we went to the Double Decker festival here in Oxford.  We had a great time!!  The four of us went to walk around before lunch and we came back to our church to eat a hot dog, jump and slide!  Later in the afternoon, Michael took Selah home to get a nap.  Myla and I waited for Henry and Peyton to come to Oxford.  We walked around the square again and went and got a Sno Biz!  Yum!!  I got a total of four pictures…see, I’ve got a problem!

DSCN5720

Selah was happy to slide as long as Daddy went with her!

DSCN5721

Myla is in love with a bouncy slide, so she got her fill until Halloween when it will be back at the church!

DSCN5722

Tag team!

3.  I know I mentioned after Easter that I was starting PRISM again, and I finally have.  Today is day 2!  Not too bad so far.  I now have an accountability partner that I am going to meet with each week to share food journals and discuss everything.  I’ve done it once…I know I can do it again!

4.  We only have 3 more days of MMO until summer, which completely blows my mind.  I cannot believe today is May 1st.  Did we not JUST celebrate Christmas???

DSCN5751

Speaking of MMO, this is what the kids love to do when we are out on the playground.  They have lots of stuff to play with, but they love to stand on the ledge and look out the fence.  Selah is right there with them…she is in the dress with the red bow on the back!

DSCN5752

She and Tyler checking something out!

DSCN5733

Happy girl!!

5.  The Meurriers have blessed us two nights in a row with dinner!  They were in town last night and took us to Chick-Fil-A, and today Mrs. Sandy happened to be in Oxford again, so she brought supper to our house.  Not having to cook puts me in such a good mood!!!  Thanks Mr. Joe and Mrs. Sandy!  We always love seeing y’all!  (If only I had gotten a picture)

6.  I’m so excited because I finally took my fabric and pillow forms to a lady that is going to make them for me today!  It is hopefully going to make a big difference in how the living room/kitchen looks…adding some color!

DSCN5755

This is one of the fabrics.  I didn’t get a picture of the others, but one is the striped companion to the floral above, one is a yellowy/orange and cream wide chevron stripe, and the other is a blue and cream thin chevron stripe.  I can’t wait until they are done!!

7.  Last Thursday night we went to a fundraiser for our local crisis pregnancy center, Save A Life.  We had a good time, and while we were there I was talking to one of Myla’s teachers at MMO.  She was telling me she just didn’t know what they were going to do without Myla next year.  She was telling me that she can get the entire room under control…telling everyone to sit on the carpet then proceeding to tell them that she is happy/disappointed with how they are acting.  She said that the kids listen to her better than they do them.  I was laughing, but the more I’ve thought about it, I think it has really been bad for her.  She is large and in charge at school, so when she comes home, it’s hard for her to realize that she isn’t in charge.  We are having trouble with her obeying the first time…she always has a comeback or excuse.  She is always going to try and have the last word, and it has been quite frustrating. Parenting is NOT for the faint of heart.  But I love her with ALL of my heart!!

DSCN5753

8.  I’m desperately trying to sell my dining room table.  If you, or anyone you know may be interested, let me know!!

DSCN5401

On that same note, if you know of someone that builds pretty farm tables for a reasonable price, let me know that as well!

9.  I’m starting on a project that I wish I would’ve started when Myla was born, but I guess it’s never too late.  I saw on a blog the other day that the writer basically keeps a journal/scrapbook for her girls.  It’s just written on cardstock and put in a 3 ring binder.  Obviously I will not write in it everyday, but occasionally.  If there are keepsakes or other things like that I will put it on the page with the journal entry as well as pictures.  I thought it would be great to do then give them to the girls when they are grown.  I know it is a big commitment, but I think it is one that will certainly be worth it.  I’m really excited about it, actually.

DSCN5756

I went to Walmart today to buy the things to get started.  I hope I can stick to it and keep up with it (that’s not by best quality!)

10.  As for the rest of our week, it’s pretty low key except on Friday…that’s the day I’ve been dreading for almost 5 years.  Myla gets her shots for kindergarten at 9 am Friday morning, so if you are in a 100 mile radius of our pediatric clinic, you may hear her screaming.  It’s not going to be pretty, and I truly feel sorry for her.  Hopefully it will go better than I expect, but I’m not going to get my hopes up!!

Ten Things Tuesday…

I recently saw this “Ten Things Tuesday” on my friend Amanda’s blog, and I thought I would give it a try.  It might get random, but I’m going to give it a chance…

1.  This past Saturday, we got to go to 2 birthday parties.  The first one was outside at the park, and it was SO cold, but we had fun celebrating Teagan’s 4th birthday!

DSCN5657

It was an Angry Birds themed party, and the girls loved it!  They both love to play Angry Birds.  Yes, Selah can totally work the iPod touch on her own…amazing!  It blows my mind!

DSCN5674

Happy 4th Birthday, Teagan!!

Next we went to the Booth’s house to celebrate August’s 1st birthday!  I just love 1st birthdays…there is just something about them that is so special!

DSCN5699

August wasn’t sure what to think of his cake!!

DSCN5698

As you can tell, he had lots of people there that love him!!  Jamie and Blake both have big families, and it was so great getting to meet so many of them!  I am so thankful for Jamie and her friendship and for her letting us be a part of Augie’s big day!

DSCN5702

Sage and Myla had so much fun together!

2.  We had an amazing worship service on Sunday morning.  Brother Tom always does an incredible job with the music, and this Sunday did not disappoint!  We had a guest soloist, Naji Spencer, and we sang “Oh Happy Day”.  I’ve still be humming and singing it all week.  I feel like I got just a small taste of what singing is going to be like in heaven!!!  Naji is UNBELIEVABLE!!! Even the 8:30 crowd was up on their feet clapping and some even raised their hands!  : ) I loved it!!  I hope Naji can come back soon to worship with us!

DSCN5707

Ready for church on Sunday morning!

3.  Over the past 3 weeks, Myla has finally given up her afternoon nap….well, I guess I finally let her stop taking it.  She didn’t fight it much, but most days she really didn’t want to take it.  She would still sleep several hours, which was nice for me to be able to get things done, but she wouldn’t be ready to go to bed at 7:30 when we put her down.  Some nights she would lie in her bed talking and singing until almost 10.  Now that she’s not napping, she usually goes right to sleep, which is good.  She does rest during Selah’s nap time by watching a movie, but she generally doesn’t fall asleep.  I think I hung on to the nap longer just for me.  Ha!

4.  Since we’ve moved into our new house, it is so hard for me to keep materialism in check.  There are so many things I want to do to decorate and fix it up, but we don’t really have the money to do it SO I’m trying to be patient, and patience doesn’t come naturally to me!!!!  It can be frustrating!  One thing I really want is a farm table.  I’ve been on the lookout for several months now, and I’m trying to be patient so I can find exactly what I want.  I do have my dining room table for sale so hopefully I can get the farm table I want when it sells!!

DSCN5401 (800x600)

5.  Myla and I had never seen Toy Story 2 or 3 until this week.  My sweet friend, Christina, let us borrow them.  We’ve watched them several times each so far!  We don’t have cable, so if the TV is on, a movie is playing!  They are the cutest movies.  I think my personal favorite is Toy Story 3!  I’ll have to admit having them has been a nice break from Rapunzel, which we have watch probably 50 times since Easter.

6.  This semester I’ve been doing Beth Moore’s “James” Bible study at church.  I have enjoyed it so much!  We’ve had assignments each week to do and this week our assignment was to examine all of our “stuff” and determine what we “hoard”.  Everyone hoards something…it could be clothes, shoes, kitchen stuff, money, time, etc.  I’m still examining my heart and asking God to reveal the areas that I need to change.  I feel like I did a good job when we moved of cleaning out things and only keeping the things that we need.  Probably my one weakness is the girls’ clothes.  Granted, my mom buys probably 90% of their clothes, and I am VERY thankful, but sometimes I can be very vain about what they wear.   And, I am attached to them.  It’s going to be hard for me to get rid of them some day.  I know that’s weird, but I guess it’s my thing.

7.  This weekend is the Double Decker Arts & Crafts Festival in Oxford.  I’m excited about it!  I plan on taking the girls to walk around.  Michael isn’t crazy about the big crowds, but I think it is fun to go and experience it.  Our church also does a Family Fun Zone on our grounds, which is always fun.  If you are in town, stop by for a hot dog and let your kids jump on the inflatables!!

DSCN1546

Here are the girls at DD last year!

8.  The road of adoption can be exhausting.  We’ve had a lot go on recently, and unfortunately I don’t feel that I can share a ton of details, but it has been a roller coaster.  I have prayed and praised God for His faithfulness no matter what situation I’m in.  I know He has a plan, and His plan will prevail. He has a baby out there for our family, and I can’t wait to see His plan come to fruition.  I do covet your continued prayers for our family, though, and hopefully soon I can share more details.

9.  Today we had a playdate at our house.  Jamie and her children came as well as Jill and her little ones.  The kids had a good time playing, and thankfully there were no total meltdowns.   I didn’t get a single picture…honestly I didn’t even realize it until after everyone left.  We had 6  children 4 and under, so we were busy!  I made hot turkey sandwiches and the kids had pizza!  As me, Jamie and Jill talked we discussed how easy it is as women to compare ourselves to one another.  I’ll admit, I live in comparison’s trap too much!  As women, I think we try and appear as if we have it all together, all the time.  I’m guilty too.  Just like today, I was running around cleaning and getting food ready before they got here so my house would look nice and we would have food to eat.  They wouldn’t have cared if my house wasn’t spic and span…they would love me anyway.  I, and I think most women, put too much pressure on themselves and create unrealistic expectations.  I have to pray against it often.  God didn’t make us perfect.  I don’t know why, I just felt like sharing that…maybe it will help someone else.  I’m going to really make an effort to take pressure off of myself about these things and not be judgmental of others!

10.  We have a pretty low key week the rest of this week, so I am thankful for that!  I have a roast in the Crockpot tonight for supper, which I’m excited about!  We are going to a benefit fundraiser for our local Save-A-Life pregnancy center on Thursday night, which I think will be fun!!  Thanks for bearing with me on my 10 Things Tuesday.  Hopefully, I will remember to keep it up!  Have a great week, everyone!

As of late…

I realized that I have not updated in awhile, so I look through my recent pictures, and there was really no rhyme or reason to them…so they will all be in one post!!

DSCN5610

I love when I catch little moments together when the girls are playing and laughing.  I want to remember those moments actually happen!  Ha!!  They really do love each other, but they have a funny way of showing it sometimes.

DSCN5612

Last Monday, Mimi and Bodie were out of school, so we rode to Tupelo together to do some shopping and to play at the playground in the mall.  The girls love going there!   The only pictures I took were in the car on the way home!

DSCN5611

Of course, poor Selah was passed out before we got out of the parking lot of the mall! She had played her heart out!

DSCN5613

While we were in Tupelo on Monday, my friend Jill sent me a text and told me that she and her kids were going to Tupelo the next day to see Katie’s new house and asked me if we wanted to ride…so back to Tupelo we went!!  Myla and Mady were so excited to ride the carousel at the mall!

DSCN5615

Myla has come a long way with stuff like this.  She used to be scared to death of the carousel…then she would ride it, but would only sit on the bench (which is Selah’s preferred choice to ride now)…but, now she runs and hops on a horse and loves it!!

DSCN5616

Mady enjoyed riding a horse too!

DSCN5622

On the second ride, both of Jill’s children opted for the bench!  I didn’t get any pictures at Katie’s house, but we had a ball!  The kids played and played and us moms talked and talked!  I’m so thankful for good friends!

DSCN5634

One day last week, Myla was determined for Selah to get some panties and wear them.  Ha!  We went to Walmart and got her some Mickey Mouse panties (her request).  As soon as we got home, Myla got down to business.  She took her diaper off and helped her get her panties on.  I am really in no rush to potty train as Selah really has shown no interest and I think I would simply be frustrating myself and her if I tried at this point, but I let Myla entertain herself with her attempt to potty train!

DSCN5636

The sweet and helpful big sister assisting!

DSCN5638

I think Selah wondered what in the world was going on, but she went along with it for awhile.

DSCN5639

Of course, Myla quickly escorted her to the potty to “try” and go with no luck.  Approximately 4 minutes later, Selah had an accident (which didn’t bother her in the least), but Myla was upset!  She kept saying, “Selah, you can’t tee tee on Mickey Mouse!  You have to keep him dry!”  Selah would just laugh at her!

DSCN5624

Last Thursday night there was a Kindergarten Round Up at Bramlett.  Myla was a bit overwhelmed and very shy during the night as we toured the school and met teachers and other children.  I’m still torn about what to do as far as schooling, but I did register her and wanted to do the tour just in case.

DSCN5626

She warmed up as she got on the playground.  She later informed me that her favorite part of the school was the playground.  I still am in shock that it is almost time for her to start Kindergarten.  It just doesn’t seem possible!

DSCN5643

The girls look forward to Michael coming home everyday, and this afternoon was no different!  They were standing at the window watching for him, and they both got so excited when they saw him turn on our road!!  They love their Daddy!

Tonight I went to see October Baby with some other girls.  If you haven’t seen it, and it is showing nearby you, go see it!  It is certainly tough to hear and watch, but the message is incredible!  Every life, born or unborn, has meaning and a purpose.  Please go support this movie!
